AIDS Education Program
Chennai AIDS Prevention And Control Society (CAPACS) is implementing School AIDS Education Programme (SAEP) in all its (38) High and (27) Higher Secondary Schools. HMs from the above schools has undergone a one day sensitization programme. Two teachers from each of the above mentioned schools have attended a three days intensive Training of Trainers (TOT) programme. Two students of IX standard from each school have attended a two days Peer Education (PE) Training.

In all the above school the trained teachers will handle sessions on life skill for the students. School level activities like will be carried out to spread awareness to the students, teachers, parents and the community. Junior Red Ribbon Clubs (JRRC) has been initiated to carryout the SLA.

A meeting was held at the Golden jubilee hall, Rippon building for the HIV Trained “Special Teachers” on 24.11.2006. 86 teachers from 50 (fifty) corporation High/Higher secondary schools participated. The teachers were guided to initiate “Junior Red Ribbon Clubs” in their schools. Teachers were also provided information on conducting School Level Activities. All 65 Corporation High/Higher Secondary Schools now have initiated JRRC. The schools are also organizing School Level Activities. Dr. K. Manivasan I.A.S, AC – Health, Mrs. Sandhya Venugopal Sharma I.A.S, JC – Education, Mr. Muruganandh – DD (IEC), Dr. Gunasekaran, DD (STD), Dr. Rajesh, DD (Blood Safety) graced the occasion with their presence.
