Deferment of Blood Donation

Permanent Deferral:

• High risk group donors for HIV infection like male homosexual or bisexual, premiscous men or women, male or female sex entertainers, professional paid donors, intravenous drug users.
• Anti HIV positive donor
• Donors having symptoms of AIDS
• History of hepatitis other than Hepatitis A
• Positive test for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C
• Endocrinal disorders
• Angima pectoris, Myocardial infection, coronary artery disease,
  Rheumatics heart disease
• Open heart surgery including By-pass surgery
• Cancer
• Abnormal bleeding tendency
• Epilepsy
• Chronic kidney disease or failure
• Stomach ulcer with symptoms or with recurrent bleeding
• Chronic liver disease with impaired organ.

Other conditions requiring permanent deferral:

• Blood coagulation disorders like hemophilia
• Severe allergic disorders
• Polycythemia vera
• Donors taking medicine like antiarrhythmics, anticonvulsants, cytotoxic drugs, digitalis, vasocilators, dilantin, anti thyroid drugs, anticoagulants, Immunosuppressives.
